Service, prices and payment
Course prices and other applicable prices are displayed on the reservation page. Displayed course prices include Japanese consumption tax unless otherwise stated. Additional orders, where available, are charged separately.
English online reservations require full payment by card at the time of booking through Stripe. Your reservation is confirmed when payment is successfully completed. Returning to the website after Checkout is not, by itself, treated as proof of payment; confirmation is based on the payment provider’s verified payment result.
Cancellation and refunds
Because ShabuMasa is a small, reservation-only restaurant, seats are secured and ingredients are prepared for each confirmed booking. Cancellation timing is calculated by calendar date in Japan Standard Time.
- 7 or more calendar days before: refund of the amount paid, less the actual payment processing cost that the payment provider does not return to ShabuMasa.
- 6–2 calendar days before: 30% cancellation fee; 70% refund.
- 1 calendar day before: 50% cancellation fee; 50% refund.
- On the reservation date or no-show: 100% cancellation fee; no refund.
If ShabuMasa cancels the reservation, including when the restaurant cannot operate because of weather, equipment trouble or another store-side reason, the payment will be refunded in full to the original payment method. ShabuMasa bears any payment-processing cost that is not returned by the payment provider.
Refund posting time depends on the card issuer or payment provider. Customer-side travel disruption, flight cancellation, transport problems or inability to reach the restaurant do not automatically become a store-side cancellation. Exceptional circumstances may be reviewed individually.
Reservation changes
Changes to the reservation date, party size or course are subject to availability. A change may require cancellation and rebooking. A reduction in party size may be treated under the same cancellation rules for the reduced portion.
